film Festival - D&AD

The programme for the film festival is a good starting point to see how the logo adapts itself on the printed media. Here are designs for the programme and other areas of the film festival.

Imagery to introduce throughout the project, relative to the genre of classic horror.

A list of the most famous/memorable classic horror films. This will be a focal point throughout the project as the films offer a range of iconic imagery.

Film Festival - D&AD

Here are developments of the logo for the film festival. I have adapted the brief to transform an existing horror film festival; 'Fright Festival', this seems a perfect name for the event, and gives me an array of outcomes to produce. The current branding of Fright Festival can be found on my context blog.

I want to keep the style classy, reflecting the old great horror films rather than the newer 'gore' films. To do this I have been trying to use a serif typeface, to introduce a modern twist on the logo I have used icons of horror related imagery (grave, blood drop, crucifix). The latter logos are working towards the style I want for the film festival.

I have amended the door image. Using a more conceptual image of the light behind the door, makes the reader think about the icon more and in doing so this intrigues them to find out more. Also the light coming from behind the door emphasizes the concept of new opportunities behind open doors.

I decided to get things moving, so here is the flyer and VIP flyer. I have maintained the same layout as the poster/brochure, and for the VIP simply added 'VIP' and an additional body copy, as I feel the design of the flyer is valid for VIP and standard participants to the show.

For the Open Doors concept, I have been creating a simple, graphic door icon. This will reflect the subtleness of the idea, but give me a graphic image to work with and add more imagery to the project, rather than using solely type which can get somewhat tired when working with large amounts of body copy.

I feel the use of bright colours will do the show and college justice, showing us in a striking, confident but most importantly fun light, and therefore making people want to come to the show.
